Happy Holi!!!!!!
For those who do not know, Holi is the Festival of Colors in India. You drench everyone in colored water and throw colored powders on each other. Colors of Joy. It is celebrated as harvest festival as well as welcome-festival for the spring season in India. It is one occasion when sprinkling colored powder ('gulal') or colored water on each other breaks all barriers of discrimination so that everyone looks the same and universal brotherhood is reaffirmed.
Happy Holi to you and yours!!!!!!!! :-)
Love and hugs,
Anisha and Mohit

A Change is Needed
Fight for change. Fight for respect. Fight fo r equality. Fight for justice. Stand up for all that you believe. I hope and wish to see an equal world, with more understanding human beings.
She fought for her life, but lost. We should fight for justice and change, in her bravery, courage, and willpower to live beyond all of this, in spirit, to invoke change in India.
And all over the world. Global awareness and change is needed.

Obama wins a second term as U.S. president
A sharply divided America awarded President Barack Obama a second term Tuesday, choosing him over Republican Mitt Romney to lead the repair of an economy that by far remains the country’s biggest concern, the Washington Post projects.
The president was poised to narrowly win several tight races in a handful of battleground states. It was the culmination of a staggeringly expensive, extremely close and sometimes bitter contest far removed from Obama’s 2008 message of hope and change.
Democrats also held onto their majority in the Senate, picking up two seats in early returns with the possibility of a third.
In early results, Obama won his home state of Illinois as well as Massachusetts, where Romney was governor and the place he still calls home. Maryland and the District of Columbia were put in Obama’s column as soon as polls there closed.
After more than $2 billion in campaign spending, unprecedented hours of television ads and a record number of voters who cast their ballots before Tuesday, Election Day 2012 was told in timeless tableaus of lines outside schools, volunteers waving signs and Americans emerging with “I Voted” stickers attached to their jackets.

New dream job!
I am an Administrative Manager at Columbia University Medical Center :-) It has been about three weeks now, and I continue to learn so much on a daily basis, while working hard in my department, and staying very busy :-) It has been a long road and a lot of hard work, both with my MBA, and job applications, to finally reach this stage, which is like a dream come true for me :-)
I am working with incredible people and knowledgeable staff at one of the top medical institutions in the country. A place where lives are changed on a daily basis. I am continuing my passion for health care and helping others. A position, company and opportunity that really supports and ties in with my MBA in Health Services Management, and takes my job to a new level, and career to new heights. I am thankful and humbled.

In the past six months, I have had two days off from work (not counting weekends). One was to take an MBA summer semester final. And the other is today - a beautiful, non-rainy, wonderful, warm summer day in New York City, that I am spending out and about, with the love of my life, celebrating our 3 year anniversary together :-) Couldn't ask for a better Friday in August!
Best. Day. Ever. Happy 3 year anniversary to the love of my life - and cheers to many more to come! :-) and happy Friday to everyone else hehehehe!

NYC pic
The Empire State Building lit up with rainbow colors to represent and celebrate both Gay Pride weekend in New York, and the Senate passing a same-sex / equality rights for marriage law (only by 4 votes, and that too in a Republican controlled Senate). Overwhelmingly amazing! YAH GO NEW YORK! GO EQUALITY AND LOVE AND HUMANITY! :-)
YAHH!! GO NEW YORK!!!
New York legalized same-sex marriage.
New York passes equal marriage law.
http://wvgazette.com/News/201106250022
"It's truly a historic night for love, our families, and democracy won.'' "New York became the sixth and largest state in the country to legalize gay marriage, breathing life into the national gay rights movement that had stalled over a nearly identical bill here two years ago."
http://harvardcrcl.org/2011/06/25/new-york-passes-marriage-equality/
"New York becomes the largest state to entrench marriage equality, and the legislature’s reversal may create momentum for proponents nationwide. The result will likely be attributed to shifting public opinion. A Quinnipiac poll cited by the New York Times suggested that support for gay marriage amongst New Yorkers rose from 37% to 58% in the two years separating the failed vote from the successful one."

Restoring the Light
About the film: "Restoring the Light" is an hour-long feature documentary about a local eye doctor's quest to provide free healthcare to remote impoverished villages in northwest China. His journey reveals an intimate portrait of an unobserved Chinese farming community's resilience and hope. Carol's film, “Restoring the Light,” has an incredible trailer, more about the film, opportunities to donate, etc on her film’s website: http://www.restoringthelight.com
We are so lucky and blessed to live in a country where eye care is both accessible and affordable, especially through health/vision insurance. Since I work at the Eye-Bank for Sight Restoration, we see/hear/know about the miracles of eye transplants on a daily basis.
I cannot imagine all that Carol has encountered on her journey.
Thank you for reading,
Anisha

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing, where have you gone
...I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know

This One's For the Girls
This One's For the Girls
by Martina McBride
This is for all you girls about 13
High school can be so rough, can be so mean
Hold on to, on to your innocence
Stand your ground when everybody's givin' in
This one's for the girls
This is for all you girls about 25
In little apartments, just tryin' to get by
Livin' on, on dreams and spaghettios
Wonderin' where your life is gonna go
This one's for the girls
Who've ever had a broken heart
Who've wished upon a shooting star
You're beautiful the way you are
This one's for the girls
Who love without holdin' back
Who dream with everything they have
All around the world, this one's for the girls
(This one's for all the girls)
This is for all you girls about 42
Tossin' pennies into the fountain of youth
Every laugh, laugh line on your face
Made you who you are today
Yeah, we're all the same inside
From 1 to 99
This one's for the girls

I love life stream of thoughts
I celebrated Thanksgiving with Mohit - our early celebration together, since we are both going home for the holidays. Two of my friends passed the bar exam :-) I bought the Glee: Christmas album. I love ALL Christmas music. But I love all music period :-) I got a new candle that is apple-cinnamon flavored. Mmm smells so nice and warms up my apt. I can't wait to put up my little mini Christmas tree in my apt too. I love this fall and winter season, the scents, the warmth, the spirit, the music, the snow, the lights, the decorations, the foods. Yay the holidays! I'm listening to Green Day - the Broadway songs version. I got some new things for my apt, including an air purifier, pink fuzzy slippers, a ball chair from Gaiam, and got holiday festive foods and groceries also. Love it! New York City is beautiful in the fall. See the leaves and trees near my apt :-)

I Look To You
A song about looking to God in our darkest times and moments, for strength and faith and hope :-)
The song and lyrics are incredibly beautiful <3
Touches the soul :-)
Original song: I Look To You by Whitney Houston
This version: Glee cover
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uYn3EKF7M8
As I lay me down
heaven hear me now
I'm lost without a cause
After giving it my all.
Winter storms have come and darkened my sun.
After all that I've been through
Who on earth can I turn to?
I look to you I look to you.
After all my strength is gone,
In you I can be strong I look to you, I look to you yeah
And when melodies are gone, In you I hear a song, I look to you.
Youuuuu
About to lose my breathe, there's no more fighting left,
Sinking to rise no more, searching for that open door.
And every road that I've taken (hmm) lead to my regret.
And I don't know if I'm going to make it.
Nothing to do but lift my head I look to you, I look to you.
After all my strength is gone, in you I can be strong I look to you I look to you.
And when melodies are gone yeah
In you I hear a song,
I look to you.
My levees are broken, my walls have come tumbling down on me
The rain is falling, defeat is calling.
I need you to set me free.
Take me far away from the battle. I need you, shine on me.
I look to you, I look to you.
After all my strength is gone, In you I can be strong I look to you I look to you.
And when melodies are gone, in you I hear a song I look to you.

Women Will Rule the World!!!
When historians write about the great recession of 2007–08, they may very well have a new name for it: the Mancession. It’s a term already being bandied about in the popular media as business writers chronicle the sad tales of the main victims of the recession: men. They were disproportionately represented in the industries hit hardest during the downturn, including financial services, manufacturing, and construction, and their higher salaries often put them first in the line of fire. Men are the victims of two thirds of the 11 million jobs lost since the recession began in 2007; in August 2009, when U.S. male unemployment stood at 11 percent (versus 8.3 for women), it was the largest unemployment gender gap in the postwar era. Those numbers have improved, a bit—new unemployment figures show men at 9.9 percent and women at 7.8—but not enough to stop Larry Summers, the president’s top economic adviser, from speculating recently, that “when the economy recovers, five years from now, one in six men who are 25 to 54 will not be working.”

personality
You are an explorer. You're always on the hunt for new exotic adventures that will appeal to your wild spirit. You'll try anything once! You've got a wonderfully childlike spirit. You see the beauty in the simplest of things. Happiness is not something to save for the future, it's about living in the moment. Nothing gets you excited like the thought of setting off on trip somewhere you've never been before. You really enjoy getting into planning all the sites you want to see. You're a bit of a cultural sponge too. You love checking out all the latest films, books and music. Deep down, you've got a big heart and like to put others first. Nothing puts a smile on your face like being able to make a difference. But remember it's always good to fit a little time for yourself in the mix too. Your batteries won't run forever!
